Secret URL secret!!!!

In my last post I said I couldn't find the secret URL in Mahara 1.4. Well now I have, it is a bit strange and hopefully may be changed.

From in the edit access screen there is no option for secret URL. You don't select any options (or could if you wanted to say share with a group etc). You then click save and are returned to a screen with a link to the page you have just edited or are about to work on. You will see that there is a secret URL option here (on the right hand side). I am not sure why this is not included on the access page, but going to a link to the Page is great. Previously (and in our current version) once you set access you get taken back to the main Page (View) menu and have to find you page again.The image above is a screen shot of the page you go to after clicking save in the edit access screen. Note the secret URL button on the right hand side. It is like an 'optional extra' and I think it is growing on me as a good idea as it separates the decision to share (say with an industry consultant or potential client or employer) from access for other fellow users or general public.

If the method for adding a secret URL stays like this, users will just need to learn how to do it, and it is one of the few non-intuitive features I have encountered so far.
