Showcase with more than words

Portfolios can use any media, so why are we still hung up on words, words, words. One of the most popular formats I have noted for graduates is to present a page that contains links to document after document. Sorry guys and gals, but it looks like crap and if you sent it to me as a prospective employer I wouldn't bother to read it. There is an alternative, and this is a great example I found on slideshare. So easy to drop into a portfolio....
